Sustainable asphalt innovation

Transforming recycled tyres into high-performance roads

RARx is an asphalt additive made from a substantial base of crumb rubber from end-of-life tyres, helping improve asphalt performance while supporting circular economy goals and creating a new commercial opportunity for rubber recycling companies.

What is RARx

RARx is an additive used to modify asphalt mixtures and is made from a substantial base of crumb rubber powder from the shredding of end-of-life tyres. Mixtures fortified with RARx are positioned to offer better technical performance than conventional mixtures, including increased durability, improved resistance to cracking and deformation, and lower traffic noise.

Circular economy and sustainability

RARx supports a more circular model by turning recycled tyre rubber into a valuable road construction material, creating environmental and commercial value from waste streams.

Performance-led road innovation

The value of RARx is not just sustainability. It is also about delivering more resilient asphalt mixtures with a stronger long-term infrastructure proposition.

Benefits

RARx combines technical performance with a strong sustainability and commercial story for infrastructure, asphalt, recycling and investment partners.

Lower maintenance needs

Improved durability can help roads last longer and reduce maintenance intervention costs over time.

Environmentally friendly

Supports a more sustainable road solution with the potential for lower material consumption, lower energy use and recycled-content value.

Improved road safety

Can contribute to higher surface grip and lower water spray, supporting safer driving conditions.

Lower traffic noise

Contributes to quieter road performance compared with conventional mixtures.

Economic Rationale

Beyond sustainability and performance, RARx is designed to support a stronger economic case for road owners, contractors and recycling partners by improving pavement life, reducing maintenance needs and creating a higher-value use for recycled tyre rubber.

Lower lifecycle cost potential

If road surfaces last longer and require fewer interventions, the total cost across the asset lifecycle can be reduced, even where initial material costs differ from conventional solutions.

Higher-value recycling model

RARx creates an opportunity for rubber recyclers to move from commodity output into a more differentiated, higher-margin infrastructure product.

Commercial Model

Our aim is to work with rubber recycling companies and investment partners that want to move up the value chain by manufacturing RARx locally and supplying a differentiated product into the road and infrastructure market.

1. Existing rubber supply

Partner with recycling companies that already handle end-of-life tyre processing and crumb rubber production.

2. Factory investment

Establish a dedicated factory to produce the RARx additive at commercial scale.

3. Supply the road sector

Provide a higher-value product to asphalt plants, contractors, councils and infrastructure programmes.

4. Higher-value recycling model

Turn a recycling operation into a premium construction materials business with stronger margins and strategic positioning.

Solutions

We aim to position two complementary road solutions for different commercial and technical needs: RARx for performance-led asphalt applications and Chip Seal for more cost-sensitive surface treatment opportunities.

RARx

A higher-performance asphalt additive solution designed for roads where durability, sustainability, noise reduction and safety value are key priorities.

Chip Seal

A more economical solution aimed at road surface treatment use cases where cost-efficiency and practical deployment are the main drivers.
